Takeaways - January 2026
This article (which complements our H1 summary) summarises the highlights from the ORX membership activities in the second half of 2025, including published reports, community discussions and our events. It provides our members and ORX Lite subscribers with operational and non-financial risk insights from across our work.
Topics covered in this article include:
- What's happening across the risk landscape
- Third-party risk management
- AI in operational risk
- Skills for ONFR
- Measurement and capital
In-person events highlight the increasing interconnectivity of the landscape
A major part of our work in the second half of 2025 was our in-person events. From September onwards, we hosted our European Regional Forum and delivered our exclusive Risk and Resilience Partnership at RiskMinds International. In North America, we hosted Cyber, Scenarios, Insurance and CCAR forums.
A key theme discussed across all of these was the increased interconnection and complexity of risks, particularly across third party, cyber and resilience. All underpinned by increasing uncertainty and the complexity of the geopolitical and economic landscape.
Resilience and strategy key for successful risk management
H2 also saw us publish the 2025 update to our Strategic vision for operational & non-financial risk. This update reflects the developments in operational and non-financial risk (ONFR) management since its original publication in 2024.
We received incredibly positive feedback from across the membership on our original vision paper. However, this feedback – along with the rapid evolution of the ONFR environment across 2025 – has resulted in two key updates. Firstly, we’ve highlighted more clearly that resilience is a core objective of successful ONFR management. Secondly, we have further emphasised the link between ONFR and strategic success. As ONFR grows, and becomes increasingly important, it has a greater ability to disrupt strategy. Successful management of ONFR is clearly linked to strategic success.
The 2025 update also incorporated further feedback and developments into the three components of the vision’s ‘pathway to success’:
- Foundations
- Digital core
- Insights and capabilities
As in H1, we have used this pathway to summarise our work from the second half of 2025.
