The financial services industry is undergoing significant change. Digital transformation, a long-held ambition for most of the industry, has been forcibly accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

This trend is increasing the speed, complexity, ambiguity and interconnectivity of the operational risk and non-financial risks we need to manage, but also presenting opportunities to manage them more effectively.

Over the past year, Heads of Operational Risk from across ORX’s membership have discussed their ambitions for the future ONFR function at our regular LeadersConnect meetings.

This short report outlines our members' views on the skills and expertise that operational and non-financial risk (ONFR) practitioners will require as our institutions transform. It is based on responses to an ORX snap survey carried out in Q1 2021 following a request from one of our member institutions.
