Interactive Visualisation - September 2024

The Banking Loss Data Map Explorer allows members of ORX to explore the ORX operational risk loss data at a more granular level than ever before. 

This interactive visualisation allows ORX members to zoom and drag to navigate to any countries of interest and see a risk profile for each country. The map explorer uses all available ORX global banking loss data.

Loss events are grouped by country of occurrence and the country risk profile metrics which are presented are:

• Total frequency – total number of events reported by all members across all years.
• Total severity – total gross loss or total net loss (as selected) reported by all members across all years.
• Median severity – after pooling all event loss from all members across all years, this is the median event loss.
• Average frequency per firm – number of losses reported across all years and all members divided by the number of firms that have submitted loss in that country.

Countries with low total event frequency or too few firms reporting data are excluded from the visualisation.

For each country these metrics are further broken down by event type allowing members to get a view of the drivers of loss and frequency.
