Held virtually, these 30-minute sessions provide an overview of top trends, notable operational risk loss events and other content from ORX News.

Highlights from the Q1 2025 session
Overview and trends
In Q1, ORX News reported on a total of 140 operational and non-financial risk events, covering both the banking and insurance sectors. Conduct continued to be both the most frequent and most severe risk type. The region with the highest number of losses was North America, followed by Asia Pacific and then Western Europe. The team has identified an increase in Information Security events tagged with Environmental Volatility: Political. New Data Deep Dives
The team recently launched Data Deep Dives, a new type of content exploring a specific risk type or topic in detail. By looking at five years of data, these Deep Dives bring together multiple loss events and highlight common causes and impacts. So far, we've published four Data Deep Dives on the ORX News platform:

- Internal Fraud
- Third Party Risk
- People, Workforce and Culture
Latest editorial reports
The team then shared the annual Year in Review – a snapshot of the ORX News database produced at the end of each year. The 2024 Year in Review includes a total of 413 loss events totalling $17.25bn. The median loss is $5.6m. ORX News subscribers can read the full review on the ORX News website.
Service updates
The team also talked through some changes to the ORX News platform including improved search functionality to help subscribers find relevant information more easily. They're also launching a new digest structure in May, which will highlight the root cause and impacts of specific events.
