Asset Management Loss Report

Report - September 2024

For the first year we have produced an Asset Management Loss Report for analysis of recent trends in our global asset management loss database.

As ORX looks to build and grow an asset management community alongside its existing banking and insurance communities, this report provides the first view of the risk profile and loss distribution for asset management. The report has been developed using asset management specific event data as reported within the asset management business line of the global banking service. 

The report is available to ORX members to download for free.

What's in the report

This report provides insights and analysis into operational risk losses in the asset management sector. The report is based on the operational risk loss data in the ORX global asset management database and includes:

Loss frequency and severity from 2018 to 2023
Average size of an operational risk event and total gross loss as a percentage of firm income
Total loss and frequency submitted in each event type between 2018 to 2023
Operational risk distributions and tail losses between 2018 and 2023 
Analysis of the distribution of loss including a look at some tail measures of loss
Geographic distribution of losses
