About the initiative
The ORX Reference Control Library, developed in 2021–22, provided an industry-first view of typical control types used across financial services. We are now refreshing the library to reflect increased maturity and emerging practices across the ORX membership.
Why now?
This initiative is driven by three key shifts since the original library was created:
- The library is nearly four years old, and with the increased digitalisation of financial services – including the use of AI – several control types (e.g. cyber, transaction processing) have matured significantly.
- Many of our members have advanced their internal control libraries, providing a stronger base for input.
- There is strong interest from our members in refreshing the Reference Control Library and sharing updated control library data.
Why take part?
This refresh depends on our members' contributions. The value of a reference control library comes directly from the breadth and quality of member input – without your control libraries, we can't produce a reference that is truly representative or useful to the industry.
By taking part in this initiative, you will receive:
- Early access to the updated library, aligned to the ORX Taxonomy (spreadsheet and digital).
- Updated guidance highlighting key areas of change (including emerging controls such as AI).
- The opportunity to join peer discussions on the practical use of control libraries.
