ORX is the largest operational and non-financial risk association for financial services firms in the world, currently employing circa 70 dedicated professionals and growing. We work closely with over 130 organisations and thousands of risk professionals globally to advance and champion the discipline.

We were set up by a small group of banks over 20 years ago to enable them to anonymously share highly-confidential operational risk loss data. Since then, we’ve grown and expanded to offer more services to our members, subscribers and the wider financial services sector. Alongside loss data sharing, we now carry out research on key topics, provide a range of collaboration opportunities and develop standards and references to drive innovation and support our community in an increasingly digitalised financial services environment. Our activities span the banking, insurance and asset management sectors.

The role

The successful candidate will contribute across ORX’s Risk and Resilience programme, working as part of a close-knit team to support projects, deliver a range of written outputs and support with Working Group facilitation and data analysis.

Research activities will include benchmarking and best practice exercises, community insights and original research studies including qualitative and quantitative analysis. In addition, they will support the facilitation of Risk and Resilience Working Groups and participate in data collection and analysis using tools such as Excel, SQL and R to analyse and visualise data which, together with the individual’s strong writing skills, will help us to communicate research findings in coherent and engaging ways.

Due to the level of cross-team collaboration required in this role, good time management, the ability to work as part of a team, and good communication skills are important.

Principal duties and responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

•  Research – supporting the delivery of the ORX Risk and Resilience research programmes by undertaking research into specific aspects of operational risk practice, trends, and methodology and assisting in the drafting and delivery of research reports

•  Surveys and data – supporting the design, development and analysis of surveys including quantitative and qualitative analysis of data requiring some knowledge of statistics and programming, as well as supporting other ways of collecting information from our communities
